What happens on Shark Tank India? In this popular business reality show, aspiring entrepreneurs from India pitch their business models to a panel of investors and persuade them to invest money in their ideas. Presently, Season 3 of the show is being aired on Sony LIV. While the show continues to rake high on TRP charts, the latest promotional video of the show sees the presence of an old businessman – who believes that his rubber toy-selling business is immensely profitable. Know what happens next.

Latest promo of Shark Tank India Season 3

At the beginning of the promotional video, we see the presence of an old man named Rahul Butalia – who believes that his business of selling rubber toys under the brand name ‘Rubbabu’ is profitable.

Rahul says, “Hamari company toys China ko bechti hai. (Our company sells toys to China.)”

Ritesh Agarwal – one of the Sharks (investor) on the show – funnily wondered whether Rahul sells Chinese toys back to China. Vineeta Singh – another Shark on the show, gave a loud laugh.

Rahul dismissed Ritesh’s claims and underlined the toys' Unique Selling Proposition (USP). He said that the brand’s products are made of natural rubber – unlike plastic which is harmful to the environment. Further, he said the toys are bio-degradable and are being sold worldwide.

Aman Gupta – a Shark - wondered why people would prefer to buy toys made of rubber instead of any other material. Rahul replied that people buy the products as the brand is established in the market.

What went wrong?

Anupam Mittal asked Rahul whether he wanted investment in the business or desired to gather only knowledge from Sharks on the panel. The old man, Rahul, expressed why he chose to mark his presence on the show, instead of seeking loans from banks.

The old man said, “Agar main kisi bank ke paas jaata hoon funding ke liye, toh woh log mere paper ko badhiya bolte hai. Lekin meri age ko dekh kar woh mujhe paise dene se mana kar dete hai. (If I go to any bank for funding, they praise my paperwork. But looking at my age, they refuse to lend me money.)”

Ritesh then wondered why the pitcher sought an investment of Rs 2 crores in exchange for 5 percent equity. Rahul responded, “I guarantee that if I sell the business, I will earn 5 million dollars from it.” The Shark felt surprised. Only time will tell whether the rubber toy-selling company will get an investment.
