For a school-based sports drama, which revolves around the equation between a PT master and the motley bunch of students he trains as a kho-kho team, it is only apt that a trailer for the same comes out on Teachers’ Day. On September 5, the trailer of Sharan’s next production venture, Guru Shishyaru will drop at 10:05 am.
Guru Shishyaru’s story unfolds in 1995, with Sharan playing a kho-kho coach. Produced by Sharan and Tharun Kishore Sudhir (an association of the former’s Laddu Cinemas with Tharun Kishore Kreatiivez), Guru Shishyaru, directed by Jadeesha K Hampi, features an exciting cast that also includes Nishvika Naidu, Dattanna, Apurva Kasaravalli, and Suresh Heblikar, along with 13 young actors who formed the kho-kho team in the film.
The team of the film went to great lengths to cast the young actors and are said to have auditioned close to 450 youngsters in the process – the final cast includes many star kids who make their on-screen debuts. Aside from the fresh talent that was cast during the auditions, the makers have roped in Ekanth (son of Nenapirali Prem), Rakshak (late comedian Bullett Prakash’s son), Manikanta Nayak, son of MLA Raju Gowda, Suriya (Ravi Shankar Gowda’s son), and Naveen Krishna’s son Harshith. The entire band of boys was then trained in kho-kho for a year along with due training in acting through workshops.
When Guru Shishyaru’s Guru Poornima poster declared that the film would be a September release, it was speculated that the team could zero in on September 16, as 9th had Luckyman, which stars the late Puneeth Rajkumar. As of today, Dhananjaya has blocked 16th for his film Monsoon Raaga. September 30 has Rishab Shetty’s Kantara and Jaggesh’s Thotapuri, which leaves only September 23 as an available date, if they choose to release it this month.
