Shantit Kranti renewed for season 2, Sony LIV to launch five more Marathi series – details inside

Sony LIV’s Marathi web series offering Shantit Kranti has been renewed for a new season. The second season of the show has been confirmed by the makers themselves. They have also confirmed that the OTT platform will release five more shows at least.

In an interview with indiantelevision.com, digital business head Ashish Golwalkar confirmed the news. He accepted that Shantit Kranti did work well for the platform and thus, people can expect a new season of the show.

Not just that, he announced that Sony LIV is looking towards releasing more Marathi content, in terms of producing shows. Ashish confirmed that the platform will release five to six new web series in Marathi.

For the uninitiated, before Sony LIV, MX Player had taken the lead on Marathi web series and produced shows like Swwapnil Joshi’s Samantar and Priya Bapat’s Aani Kay Hava. Both the series worked well and had new seasons release in 2021.

Shantit Kranti originally starred Alok Rajwade, Lalit Prabhakar and Abhay Mahajan in the lead roles. The series also introduced Veere Di Wedding actor Shikha Talsania who made her Marathi web series debut with the show.

Shantit Kranti is the story of three mentally disturbed boys who decide to leave on a trip to Goa. However, one of their friends deceives them and they end up in a wellness resort, without their phones or any other normal facilities.

The show tested whether these friends can survive the wellness retreat or run back into their daily lives after spending a few days in Goa. Whether they find their inner peace to be able to deal with their problems at hand is also revealed on the show.

The first season of Shantit Kranti had a closed ending, leaving little scope for imagination. However, the new season could bring in new twists or take an angle from the first season and continue from there. All will be revealed in due time, when season 2 actually releases.
