If the buzz in the industry is to be believed, Shanaya Kapoor, daughter of Bollywood actor Sanjay Kapoor and Maheep Kapoor, is all set to make her south debut. According to IndiaToday, the actress is all set to be seen in Vrushaba, which will be helmed by Kannada filmmaker Nanda Kishore, who had earlier made films like Ranna and Mukunda Murari. The film is being bankrolled by Ekta Kapoor's Balaji TeleFilms along with Connekkt Media and AVS Studios.
Ekta Kapoor shared a picture with Mohanlal on her social media handle, and captioned it, "Posing with d legend n the genius !!!! JAI MATA DI so excited to b working with the actor par excellence @mohanlal (sic)."
We hear that the film will revolve around the dynamics of a father-son relationship and Shanaya will have a crucial role in it. Vrushaba is said to be a period film and Shanaya's character is set to link the past and the present. The film will also have some heavy-duty action drama. Malayalam Superstar Mohanlal has already joined the star cast and the film will also star Telugu actor Roshan Meka.
Vrushaba will have music by Devi Sri Prasad and cinematography by Santhosh Thundiyal. KM Prakash is handling the editing. With people from across the industries joining the star cast, it looks like the film will be made with a pan-India appeal. Vrushaba will be released in Kannada, Malayalam, Telugu, Tamil and Hindi. The shoot is likely to begin this month.
In the meantime, Shanaya Kapoor is all set to make her Bollywood debut with Karan Johar's Bedhadak. However, it looks like the film has been put on the backburner for now as there has been development on the film front. In that case, Vrushaba will mark her acting debut in films. Shanaya Kapoor had earlier worked as an assistant director, in Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl (2020), which had Jahnvi Kapoor in the titular role. The film was directed by Sharan Sharma and bankrolled by Dharma Productions and Zee Studios.
