Though a lot of fans of Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone would rate their chemistry in Ayan Mukerji’s Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani higher than Tamasha, they would still have been moved by that heart-tugging scene featured in the song Agar Tum Saath Ho from Imtiaz Ali’s directorial.
Recently, Ranbir, who has been busy promoting his upcoming movie Shamshera, talked about sharing screen space with the actress and talked specifically about her performance in the sequence that is still remembered.
“She made it come alive because she really, you really felt pain and because of that it was such a reactive scene,” he said, adding that the duo was “reacting” to each other’s reactions in the sequence.
Ranbir also went on to explain that he has always enjoyed working with the Chhapaak actress as they technically started off their career together with both their debut ventures – Saawariya and Om Shanti Om – releasing on the same day in November 2007. The two also shared screen space in Ranbir’s second movie Bachna Ae Haseeno.
He rated her growth as phenomenal by the time they had worked together again in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani years later and that he was so surprised because he knew her closely. “By the time we reached Tamasha, she was a veteran and she was surprising me with each shot,” added the actor, who is gearing up for his first release in four years with Shamshera.
Deepika is also rumoured to be seen in a cameo in the tail-end portions or end credits of Ranbir and Alia Bhatt’s Brahmastra, which will mark her second collaboration with Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani director Ayan. The actress is also reported to be part of Atlee’s action-thriller Jawan, which has Shah Rukh Khan in the lead along with Nayanthara and Rana Daggubati. She is also starring in a full-length role in Shah Rukh’s Pathaan, which is set to release next year.
