Shalini delivered one of the finest performances of her career in Alaipayuthey, the 2000-released Mani Ratnam directorial. Her extraordinary onscreen chemistry with R Madhavan was widely loved by the cinephiles. Interestingly, the Alaipayuthey pair had a reunion, recently.

Recently, the former actress took to her official Instagram handle and shared a couple of lovely selfies with her Alaipayuthey co-star, R Madhavan. The popular star actors, who had a reunion after a very long gap, are seen flaunting their million-dollar smiles in the lovely clicks, which are now winning the internet. “Endrendrum Punnagai, (a line from the famous Alaipayuthey song),” Shalini Ajith Kumar captioned her post. The lovely clicks have left the Alaipayuthey fans and cinephiles highly excited, and are going viral on social media.

All about Alaipayuthey

The romantic musical drama film, written, co-produced, and directed by Mani Ratnam, revolves around the romance, wedding, and marital issues of Karthik and Shakti, an urban couple. R Madhavan made his feature film debut playing the role of Karthik in the film, which features Shalini Ajith Kumar in the role of Shakti. The movie earned immense love from both the audiences and critics, for its mature and modern take on relationships. Shalini won the Tamil Nadu State Film Award and Filmfare Award for Best Actress, for her performance in the film.

Arvind Swamy and Khushbu made cameo appearances in the film, which stars Jayasudha, KPAC Lalitha, Sukumari, Vivek, Swarnamalya, Pyramid Natarajan, Selvaraj, Azhagam Perumal, Karthik Kumar, Medha Raghunath, and others in the supporting roles. AR Rahman composed the songs and original score for the film. PC Sreeram and A Sreekar Prasad handled the cinematography and editing, respectively. Alaipayuthey is currently available for streaming, on Aha Tamil and OTTplay Premium.
