Regardless of success or failure, Mahi V Raghav has constantly redefined himself as a storyteller with every given opportunity. While debuted as a director with a road film Paathasaala, he followed it up with interesting projects like Anando Brahma and Yatra. If Anando Brahma was a horror-comedy, Yatra was a biopic based on YS Rajashekar Reddy.
He forayed into the OTT space as a co-creator and producer of Disney+ Hotstar’s recent entertainer Save the Tigers. He’s back in the news for another web project titled Shaitan for the same platform, a crime thriller. Earlier today, Disney+ Hotstar confirmed that the show would premiere on the streamer on June 15 and released the first look, motion poster of the same. The Yatra maker is also the director of the show that marks Kannada actor Rishi’s Telugu debut.
In the first poster, a group of men and women are in a room with a murdered cop, while one of the characters holds a weapon in his hand. The raw appeal and intensity of the poster grabs your eyeballs. Other actors in the show include Sai Kamakshi Bhaskarla, Deviyani Sharma, Jaffer Sadiq, Aneesha Dama, Nithin Prasanna, Lenaa Kumar and others in crucial roles.
Shanmuga Sundharam cranks the camera for the show which has music by Sriram Maddury. Hyndavi and Raj Kumar Murugesan are the costume designer and the art director respectively. “What you call crime, they call survival. This is my take on a very tried and tested crime genre. This genre is something which I am not too fond of or very comfortable with! As a storyteller it has been quite an experience living in their world and bringing these characters alive,” Mahi V Raghav wrote, while sharing the poster.
Mahi V Raghav is also helming the sequel to Yatra, based on the life of AP CM Y S Jaganmohan Reddy; more details about the film will be out shortly.
