The trailer of Ajay Devgn-R Madhavan’s Shaitaan is out and has been making buzz all over the internet. Do you know that the Vikas Bahl directorial is actually a remake from a popular film? It is remade from another language and the original movie received a lot of acclaims when it released in 2023.
Shaitaan is inspired from the Gujarati movie Vash (meaning possessed). The film starred Janki Bodiwala, who plays the daughter in Shaitaan as well. It also featured Hitu Kanodia, Niilam Paanchal, Aaryab Sanghvi and Hiten Kumar in pivotal roles. The original film was helmed by Krishnadev Yagnik and Kalpesh Soni along with Krunal Soni, Nilay Cholai and Dipen Patel produced the movie. Vash released in theatres on February 10, 2023.

Vash was critically acclaimed with most calling it a worthy watch. Some went on to say that the movie would set a benchmark in the Gujarati film industry and sure enough, it seems to have done exactly that, with Shaitaan making all the right noises.
The trailer of Shaitaan, released on February 22, showed R. Madhavan in a new avatar. He turned into a demon who does black magic. He has Janki’s character (once again the daughter, this time Ajay and Jyotika’s daughter) under his control. Ajay and Jyotika play the parents who go to all lengths to try and save their daughter, but with the situation, can they?
Apart from Ajay, Madhavan, Jyotika and Janki, the movie stars Anngad Raaj in the role of the son (missing from the trailer). The remake is directed by Vikas Bahl and produced by Ajay and Jyoti Deshpande, Kumar Mangat Pathak and Abhishek Pathak.
Shaitaan is slated to release in theatres on March 8, 2024.
