Nearly two months after its theatrical release and becoming a blockbuster, Shaitaan is all set to hit the OTT screen. Indeed, Netflix will release the supernatural horror film at midnight on May 4, 2024. The Vikas Bahl film, a Hindi remake of the popular Gujarati film Vash that was released in 2023, stars Ajay Devgn, R. Madhavan, Jyothika, Janki Bodiwala, and Anngad Raaj.
In Shaitaan, unexpected events rock the family's world when a mysterious figure (Madhavan) bestows black magic on their eldest daughter (Bodiwala). The next step is for the family to attempt to cease possession and find out why the stranger is acting this way. The film shows Kabir (Devgn) and his family welcome a nice but enigmatic stranger into their home; their once-fun weekend getaway becomes a nightmare. In this nail-biting supernatural thriller, the family faces their deepest fears as they dive into the dark aspects of Indian black magic, all while the clock is ticking.
Shaitaan is still doing well at the box office and might continue to play for a few more weeks with relatively low receipts. As per Box Office India, the film earned a total of Rs. 146 crore nett after six weeks in theatres. Although it is unlikely that the film would earn more than Rs. 150 crore nett, it is expected to outperform other films in the same genre, such as Oh My God 2 and Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, which earned between Rs. 147 and Rs. 148 crore nett.

Shaitaan is much smaller and mostly music-free, but the film has nonetheless managed to outperform Fighter, even surpassing Dunki's figures. The film's emphasis on story, which is increasingly important in modern mass circuits, likely explains why these core mass circuits perform better.
Out of all the 2024 films, only Shaitaan has been a worldwide success. The movie, a remake of a Gujarati film, likely struggled at the box office in its original state of release. The film is on track to earn approximately Rs. 215 crore globally, thanks to its around $4.5 million in overseas earnings.
Shaitaan earned Rs 80.18 crore in the first week and Rs 35.07 crore in the second week. The third week of the film saw collections up to Rs. 18.77 crore, while they dropped to Rs. 6.59 crore in the fourth week. Moreover, the following week, the film went on to mint Rs. 3.62 crore and closed at Rs. 1.35 crore in the sixth week.
