According to a report in Mid Day, Shahid Kapoor is in talks with the makers of the 2013 Malayalam neo-noir psychological thriller, Mumbai Police, which originally starred Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead. Siddharth Roy Kapur is reportedly producing the movie and it will be directed by Rosshan Andrrews, who also directed the original. Andrews is reportedly working on the screenplay at the moment. Mumbai Police revolves around three cops, played by Prithviraj, Jayasurya and Rahman. The casting for the roles played by Jayasurya and Rahman as well as the leading lady is underway.
Although Kapoor’s last release, the Hindi adaptation of the Telugu film Jersey, didn’t perform well, remakes have worked well for the actor in the past. In 2018, Kapoor had a blockbuster hit with Kabir Singh, which was an official remake of the 2017 Telugu superhit Arjun Reddy, starring Vijay Devarakonda.
