Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan is reinventing himself with his upcoming movies and proving again that age is just a number. He has collaborated with South Indian talents in his upcoming movie Jawan. And it seems he has taken extra measures to ensure that his performance resonates not only with audiences in the Hindi belt but also with moviegoers across the nation.
On Thursday, SRK conducted an 'ask me anything' session on Twitter. When a fan asked whether he watched a lot of movies to prepare for his role in Jawan, SRK answered in affirmation. He noted that he studied the "language of expression" by watching a lot of leading stars of the South Indian film industry, including Rajinikanth, Vijay and Yash while preparing for his role.
"I watched a lot of films of Atlee. Vijay sir. Allu Arjun ji. Rajni sir. Yash and loads of other stars to understand the language of expression for the world that was being created. And yes then prepped for my own character too. #Jawan," SRK said.
SRK's revelation shows his willingness to learn even from the younger generation stars to stay relevant in the fast-evolving media space.
The trade pundits are confident that Jawan, not just in the Hindi heartland, but will also massively click with the audience in the South Indian states, where the Hindi films have been struggling to make a dent in the last few years. Considering that Jawan is written and directed by Atlee, and it stars leading south stars such as Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi in the lead role, it's poised to take a huge opening in Tamil Nadu and its neighbouring states.
The buzz is Atlee has also roped in one of the biggest superstars from the south to play a cameo in Jawan. Some claim it's Thalapathy Vijay and others speculate it's Telugu superstar Allu Arjun. However, the filmmakers have not officially confirmed anything yet.
Earlier this week, the prevue of Jawan took social media by storm as it showed SRK in never before seen avatars. The film is due in cinemas on September 7.
