Superstar Rajinikanth's upcoming movie, tentatively titled Thalaivar 171 , continues to make headlines for all the right reasons. According to some media reports, director Lokesh Kanagaraj has approached Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan to play a cameo in the movie.
The filmmakers have not officially confirmed the news at the moment. Based on Lokesh's past track record and his penchant for keeping cameos a big secret until the release of his films, we don't expect any official clarification on speculations. Especially, if the rumours are true, then this will be one of the biggest cameos in Lokesh's filmography.

Why SRK might say yes to Thalaivar 171?
However, Shah Rukh Khan agreeing to briefly share screen space with Rajinikanth is entirely possible. One of the main reasons is SRK adores Rajinikanth, and he never misses an opportunity to show his affection and admiration for the Superstar. So much so that he included 'Lungi Dance' as a tribute to the legend of Rajinikanth in his 2013 movie Chennai Express. Another important reason why this speculation could be true is that SRK would want to return the favour to Rajinikanth.
Rajinikanth made a cameo appearance in SRK's superhero movie Ra.One in 2011. The superstar appeared in the role of his iconic character Chitti The Robot and saved SRK's G.One from a bunch of goons.
Thalaivar 171 rumoured star cast
There are more reasons why SRK would be compelled to say yes if Lokesh had offered a cameo role in the upcoming Rajinikanth starrer. Speculations about SRK's cameo have cropped up amid the rumours of Lokesh offering a role to Bollywood's Ranveer Singh in the movie.
In the meantime, some reports have also claimed that veteran actor Mohan, popularly known as Mic Mohan, has been tapped to play the main antagonist.
The official teaser for Thalaivar 171 will be unveiled on August 22. The teaser will reveal the film's official title and will also give us an idea about what to expect from it.
