Shah Rukh Khan, who delivered three back-to-back blockbusters last year with Pathaan, Jawan and Dunki, is gearing up for another action drama, King. The Badshah of Bollywood, who was accorded the prestigious Pardo Alla Carriera Award at the 77th Locarno Film Festival and became the first Indian actor to receive the honour a few days back, recently had an interview with Variety magazine where he spoke about his upcoming film, King.
When the Badshah of Bollywood was asked about his upcoming projects, SRK gave some crucial details about his upcoming film King which is directed by Sujoy Ghosh, who made Vidya Balan’s Kahaani.
While dropping some hints, the 58-year-old star stated, “It will be interesting. I have been wanting to do a film like that for some time, and I really wanted to do a film like this for seven, eight years. We just felt Sujoy would be the right choice because we wanted it to be very emotionally correct. We are all coming together to make a cool, massy, action, emotional film.”

The interviewer then asked the superstar that as he has not done a Hollywood film so far, under what conditions or circumstances would he consider doing one. Khan jokingly replied that he is in no position to choose and put conditions, but if any opportunities come, he hopes he can speak good English.
He further explained that he doesn't want to sound arrogant, but he deserves a worthy character in Hollywood, which will maintain the status that the Indian audiences have given him all these years.
“People look up to what I do. People have given me too much respect. People have given me and my family everything that I have, people of India and all around the world, Indians, and people from the subcontinent. And there’s a respect that I need to keep when I play a role in any film, whether it’s a Hindi film or a South Indian film or a Marathi film or a French film or a Hollywood film,” the DDLJ star further said.
The news about King has been circulating on the internet since last year. However, SRK made a surprise announcement at the Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland, revealing that King is an action thriller drama, which is directed by Sujoy Ghosh. Another interesting factor is that his daughter Suhana Khan will be seen collaborating with him for the first time. The action film is expected to go on floors at the end of 2024 and is looking forward to a 2025 release.
