Just two days ahead of the release of her big-budget costume drama Shaakuntalam, Samantha Ruth Prabhu on Wednesday announced that she will be stepping down from her film promotion duties due to health reasons. The actress took to social media to share the news with her fans.

In her tweet, Samantha explained that her busy schedule has taken a toll on her health and that she is currently down with a fever. She expressed her disappointment at not being able to be with her fans during the promotional activities but urged them to join her team at the Annual Day Event of MLRIT.

This is not the first time that Samantha has opened up about her health condition. Last year, she revealed that she was suffering from myositis , an autoimmune condition. Despite the challenges she faces, Samantha has remained positive and determined to fight her condition.

In an interview with popular TV anchor Ramya, Samantha spoke about the difficulties of living with myositis. "Somedays getting up from bed is difficult. Somedays I want to fight. Slowly the days I want to fight are getting more and more than the days I want to give up," she said.

Following her announcement, Samantha's fans expressed their concern for her health. However, the actress reassured her fans that her life was not in immediate danger. "I'm not dying anytime soon. Yes, it is auto-immune. It's taking time. It's draining and tiring, but I have always been a fighter. I am going to fight," she said in an earlier interview.

Shaakuntalam is a big-budget movie inspired by Indian mythology. Writer-director Gunasekhar has adapted the Indian epic Shakuntala by Kalidasa for the big screen. The movie is bankrolled by Dil Raju's Sri Venkateswara Creations. And it's due in cinemas on April 14.

According to the reports, in light of new development, the filmmakers have also cancelled the special screening for the media, which was due to take place today.
