Shaakuntalam effect: Producers and hero of Gunasekhar's next back out, details inside

Gunasekhar is a very talented director, and he has the credit of launching the likes of NTR to the film world. But in the last few years, he has lost his midas touch and is giving only flops. His latest film, Shaakuntalam featuring Samantha, has also become a huge flop landing Gunasekhar in massive losses.

If this was not enough, the producers of his next film, Hiranyakashyapa, have backed out of the film as per the gossip in the film circles. The news is also that Gunasekhar is looking for new producers who can take this film on floors. Going back in time, Gunasekhar announced Hiranyakashyapa with Rana Daggubati as the main lead. When he was all set to take the film on floors, Covid happened and the film was pushed ahead.

Not many know that Hiranyakashyapa was Gunasekhar's dream project and he had worked with his team for close to five years. But due to Covid, he changed plans and decided to make Shaakuntalam. He invested heavily in the film as the period drama flopped, things have come back to square on. The word is that even Rana is not showing interest in this film and is planning to back out.

In such a time, what will Gunasekhar do now.? So many industry insiders are suggesting that Gunsekhar needs to come out of his madness to do historical dramas and make commercial dramas, which is his strength. Samantha is also facing trolling for Shaakuntalam but she has moved on happily as she pocketed big money with the film. But poor Gunasekhar is a deep mess.
