Samantha has given her life and soul to Shaakuntalam. Her performance has also been rtop notch and she looked beautiful in the period drama. But sadly, the film released with a very disappointing word of mouth and has fallen flat at the box office. Yesterday, we had revealed that the makers will end up in losses and will lose over 14 crores.
Now the film has completed its first weekend and has made dismal numbers in Telugu states. The Gunasekhar film has made only 2.5 crores share in Telugu states which is quite bad for a star heroine like Samantha. The trade experts reveal that the film will be gone in the first two days of this week.
The sad part is that a few distributors in AP have removed Shaakuntalam and have once again aired Dasara which is bringing them numbers. Gunasekhar has put close to 50 crores on this film and added more than ten crores for the 3D effects and promotions. The manner in which he has narrated the film has come in for heavy trolling from all quarters.
Fans of Samantha are upset that their favorite star's hardwork has been wasted. Shaakuntalam was also released as a Pan-India release and has fallen like a pack of cards in the northern belt as well. Back in Telugu states, the makers arranged for special premiere shows which further hampered the openings as bad talk already came out for the Samantha starrer a day in advance.
