ZEE5, which has recently bagged the critically acclaimed Tamil film Kudumbasthan, is gearing up for the release of its new original titled Seruppugal Jaakirathai. The announcement was made on Thursday on social media, while releasing the first look poster. Seruppugal Jaakirathai is all set to premiere on March 28 onwards.

ZEE5 Tamil, which is one of the offerings of OTTplay Premium, has come up with a new Tamil original. Titled Seruppugal Jaakirathai, it will premiere on ZEE5 on March 28. The first look poster shows a slipper in the forefront as characters reach out to grab it, with a visibly concerned face. Actors Singampuli, Vivek Rajagopal, Iraa Agarwal and Manohar form the main cast of the film.
While it is sporadic to have direct to OTT premieres and originals, Seruppugal Jaakirathai will be first of the few Tamil originals this year. It is directed by Rajesh Soosairaj. The technical crew consists of K Gangadaran cranking the camera and LV Muthu Ganesh scoring the music. Wilsi J Sasi is the editor of the film. Seruppugal Jaakirathai is produced by S Singaravelan. Much about the plot of Seruppuga Jaakirathai is not known now, however given the poster, it looks like a comedy outing for Singampuli, who is known for his comic roles in Tamil cinema.

Watch ZEE5’s Kudumbasthan on OTT right now
ZEE5 has also bagged the post-theatrical streaming rights of Kudumbasthan, the recently released family drama starring Manikandan in the lead role. While there have been many family dramas to have come out in Tamil cinema, Kudumbasthan directed by debutant filmmaker Rajeshwar Kalisamy. He wrote the script of the film along with the screenplay with actor Prasanna Balachandran. The latter has played a prominent part in Kudumbasthan.
Also starring Sanvee, Guru Somasundaram, and others, Kudumbasthan opened to positive reception upon its release. It revolves around a sole breadwinner who loses his job and has to manage his family’s expenses.
