Tamil actor Prabhu was hospitalised in Chennai earlier this week. It's said Prabhu was rushed to the hospital after he complained of severe abdominal pain.

According to the latest bulletin issued by the hospital, Prabhu is recovering after undergoing laser surgery at a private hospital in Kodambakkam.

"Prabhu was brought to the hospital due to problems in his kidney. We found stones in his kidney and they were removed through ureteroscopy surgery with laser treatment. He is completely in good health. After a few regular check-ups, he will be sent home in one or two days," said Medway Hospitals in a media statement.

In the meantime, none of his family members of Prabhu has reacted to the latest development.

Prabhu is the son of the late acting legend Sivaji Ganesan. Following in the footsteps of his father, Prabhu also became an actor. In the 80s and the 90s, Prabhu had a thriving career playing the leading man in small and medium-budget movies. He played the roles of co-leads in a few movies starring superstars Rajinikanth (Dharmathin Thalaivan, Guru Sisyan, Chandramukhi) and Kamal Haasan (Vettri Vizhaa, Vasool Raja MBBS).

Prabhu now appears in the movie in the supporting roles. He was last seen in a key role in Tamil superstar Vijay's recent movie Varisu. The film was released on Pongal earlier this year to packed houses and it became the first highest-grosser in Tamil cinema this year. According to reports, the film has collected over Rs 140 crore in Tamil Nadu alone. Its worldwide collection is said to be over Rs 300 crore. After successfully running in cinemas for several weeks, the film was made available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

Prabhu will next be seen in the second part of director Mani Ratnam's magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan: II.
