Sai Dharam Tej, who was last seen in the socio-fantasy comedy Bro alongside his uncle and star Pawan Kalyan, has officially confirmed his next. He’ll be joining hands with Sampath Nandi for a commercial entertainer to be shot on a grand scale. The makers of DJ Tillu, Jersey and MAD - S Naga Vamsi of Sithara Entertainments, Sai Soujanya of Fortune Four Cinemas - are bankrolling the film.

The film has been tentatively titled SDT 17. For film buffs keenly awaiting an update around the project, you have some good news. The first glimpse of the film will be launched tomorrow at 8.55 am. “A Thundering First High from our #SDT17 will be unveiled TOMORROW at 8:55 AM! A @IamSampathNandi MASSS MISSILE,” Sithara Entertainments confirmed this morning.
A still from the film, to confirm the news, had Sai Dharam Tej sporting the tattoo of Lord Shiva’s trishool, hinting at the victory of good over evil. Srikara Studios is presenting the film. Reports suggest the film, which unfolds amidst a drug mafia backdrop, has been titled Ganja Shankar. The action drama went on floors recently and Pooja Hegde has been roped in as the female lead. A grand jail set was erected exclusively for the film.
Pooja Hegde hasn’t had a Telugu release since a year and a half and the project could just do the job for her to return to form in the industry. This is her first film with director Sampath Nandi and Sai Dharam Tej. The details about the cast and crew of SDT 17 are expected to be confirmed through the glimpse tomorrow. The film may hit screens in the first half of 2024.
In addition, Sai Dharam Tej has okayed another light-hearted film by the makers of Virupaksha, Sri Venkateswara Cine Chitra, though the project may take a while to materialise. Both the actor’s recent releases - Bro and Virupaksha - can be streamed on Netflix.
