Sony LIV 2.0 has completed three years today. On the occasion, they have unveiled the release date for Scam 2003: The Telgi Story. Hansal Mehta returns as a director for the show after Scam 1992 success.
Scam 2003: The Telgi Story is slated to start streaming from September 2, 2023. The show will be available on Sony LIV at midnight.
Hansal Mehta and Tushar Hiranandani, following the immense success of Pratik Gandhi's Scam 1992, are now introducing their latest venture titled Scam 2003: The Telgi Story. Hansal is the showrunner and Tushar has directed the upcoming show. Applause Entertainment bankrolls this series too.
This upcoming show focuses on the infamous Abdul Karim Telgi scam, as implied by the title. The narrative is based on journalist Sanjay Singh's book, Reporter Ki Diary.
Abdul, who experienced poverty during his childhood, desired to discover quick methods of earning money. Despite engaging in laborious work such as selling fruits and vegetables, Telgi eventually ventured into the realm of document forgery, starting with passports, and eventually established a thriving enterprise centered around counterfeit stamps. His business rapidly expanded when he began engaging in money laundering as well. Scam 2003 aims to depict these aspects of his life.
Insiders familiar with the project have disclosed that the creators possess a compelling script that has the potential to surpass the success achieved by Scam 1992. However, further details regarding this project will be unveiled once it becomes available.
Gagan Dev Riar has been cast to portray the character of Telgi. He was a part of Sushant Singh Rajput’s Sonchiriya. The actor played the role of Khalifa in the film. He was last seen in Tabu-Ishaan Khatter’s limited series, A Suitable Boy.
