Saurasemi Maitra on her character in Feluda: Please pass your judgement after watching the series

Arindam Sil’s tryst with Feluda has started. With Parambrata Chatterjee and Rwitobroto Mukherjee as Feluda and Topshe, his Shabash Feluda will delve into Satyajit Ray’s Gangtoke Gondogol. Soon after the official announcement, Saurasheni Maitra’s cast was talked about. She will be seen as an important character in the series in which Ray’s story has been contemporised by the director. 

Soon after the announcement, the introduction of Saurasheni by the director was criticised. In fact, the idea and the actress were trolled by the netizens. Addressing this, Sairaseni said, “I would request people to wait and watch the series before starting to troll. I am a Feluda fan, I wouldn’t have agreed to work on the project if my character made no sense. I think we need to have a little patience.”  

Earlier, Arindam also defended his position and said that he has no intention to bring forced changes in Feluda. “Our Feluda is modern and in The IB team, Sauraseni plays the character of an investigating officer. We have not changed the story but contemporised the plot. In today’s world, it is natural to have female officers in police departments. In fact, if Feluda was written in today’s time, there would have been female characters. The story remains intact and we have just broadened the horizon of the case,” he said.
