Operation Java director Tharun Moorthy’s latest movie Saudi Vellakka, which hit theatres earlier this month, is all set for its OTT release soon. The social drama, which has Lukman Avaran, Sujith Sankar, Binu Pappu and Devi Varma in lead roles, had opened to positive reviews when it hit theatres and is expected to find more audience after its OTT release.
The movie, which is based on a true story, revolves around a legal case and how the delay in delivering the verdict by the country’s legal system takes a huge toll on the people who are involved.

Saudi Vellakka is set in a coastal village named Saudi and is centred on an older woman, Aisha, who in a fit of anger hits a child. Her neighbour eggs the boy’s family to file a police case against the woman and soon things blow out of proportion as more people get involved. This prompts Aisha’s family to fight the case, but little did they know that it would also have huge ramifications in each of their lives, with the court taking over a dozen years to finally deliver the judgment.
The moving drama marks a stellar debut by Devi, who plays Aisha in the movie. Dhanya Ananya, Gokulan, Riya Saira and Remya Suresh are also part of the movie, which marks Tharun’s second directorial after the acclaimed Operation Java. Much like his previous movie, Saudi Vellakka also showcases the plight of the people who are awaiting justice from the legal system.
While we had earlier revealed that the film will have its OTT premiere on Sony LIV, Tharun took to his social networking page on Christmas eve to announce the date that the movie will drop on the streaming platform. Saudi Vellakka is set to begin streaming on Sony LIV from January 6.
