After his spellbinding performance in Anirban Bhattacharya’s spooky romcom, Ballabhpurer Roopkotha, Satyam Bhattacharya is back with yet another horror film. Directed by Kakoli Ghosh and Abhinav Mukherjee, the film also features Sandipta Sen, Suhotra Mukhopadhyay, Amrita Chattopadhyay, Saptarshi Moulik, and others.

An adaptation of three stories

The film is said to be an adaptation of three literary works – Rabindranath Tagore’s Monihara, a story from Bibhutibhushan Bandyopadhyay’s Taranath Tantrik, and Manoj Sen’s Shikar. These three stories are connected through a string. The look set of the film was recently completed and the shooting will start this month. The team will go for their outdoor shoot on November 16 in Bolpur. Later, the shooting will take place in and around Kolkata -- Haritaki Bagan Lane in North Kolkata, Laha Bari, and Baruipur Rajbari.

Satyam Bhattacharya has started his preparations

Satyam will be seen playing Fanibhushan in Monihara. Talking about the film, the actor said, “I like to work with new directors who are passionate about films. Kakoli and Abhinav have a theatre background. They staged a production, Urja, a couple of years ago at Science City Auditorium. They are creatively and aesthetically sound. They are also very driven. I got this feeling during a workshop and look set. The second reason for saying yes to this project is my character. He is an interesting character. People often see him as an arrogant character. However, as the story progresses, he becomes layered. It is a period piece. Sujoy Sarkar has penned the script in a manner that has the flavour of a period piece. I grew up in South Kolkata. So, I am trying to imbibe the spirit of a North Kolkata man from a Bonedi family of that era. Also, it is a dialogue-heavy script, and I am diligently going through my lines to be well-prepared on the set.”

Amrita will play Moni in the film. This will be Satyam's first appearance with Amrita. Meanwhile, the actor and Suhotra have worked together on multiple projects.
