The trailer of Sunny Leone-starrer Oh My Ghost was unveiled recently; the event was attended by the film's cast and crew. A comment made by Sathish, who plays a key role in the movie, at the affair has been facing massive backlash from netizens.
During his speech, he was all praise for Sunny's traditional dressing style and took a dig at Dharsha Gupta, who is also essaying a crucial role in the movie, for her modern outfit. He went on to say that it is indeed a pleasure to see Sunny respecting Tamil culture, and mocked Dharsha who hails from Coimbatore for the "cultural awareness" she lacks.
Many from the crowd whistled and clapped at Sathish's comment, and the video has been doing the rounds on social media. Singer Chinmayi was the first to point out the actor's distasteful remark and wondered when such atrocious behaviour would stop.
She posted the clip from her Twitter page and posted, "I mean - To actually *point* at a woman and ask for mass heckling of a crowd by a man on a woman who doesn’t dress according to culture (sic)." Though a few in the comment section said that Sathish is unlikely to reply, but instead might block her, she continued expressing her disappointment.
Filmmaker Naveen of Moodar Koodam fame was the next person to come down heavily on Sathish on Twitter. He lambasted the actor for his disgusting comment and said that everyone has the liberty to choose the dress they wear. He also tagged Sathish and added that it is absolutely condemnable if the latter decides on the dress his wife wears.
Singer Srinivas, too, replied in the comment section among many others. The veteran singer expressed his disappointment and tweeted, "I thought Sathish would have grown up by now . In his mind .. Sad (sic)."
