Saswata Chatterjee’s mother passes away

Eminent actor Saswata Chatterjee lost his mother. His mother Anjali Chatterjee, 82, breathed her last on Wednesday. She has been suffering from age-related ailments for several months. She was admitted to a private hospital in South Kolkata on March 9. She succumbed to death after suffering for the last one month.

Anjali Chatterjee is survived by her two sons Saswata and Subhadeep, daughters-in-law Mahua and Sarmistha, and grandchildren.

Anjali stayed with her younger son Subhadeep. After being sick for a month, she was admitted on Saturday. Anjali fell and hurt her leg. She also had other complications related to age. The doctors said that the infection spread from that wound. Her condition worsened after getting admitted.

Saswata lost his father, popular actor Subhendu Chatterjee, on July 5, 2007. Mahuya Chatterjee, Saswata's wife, said that Saswata was keeping fine and controlled himself. He had a shooting in Mumbai but cancelled it owing to his mother's illness. Her last rites were done on Thursday. In an interview with News 18, Saswata said, “After my father, I lost my mother too. It is impossible to express the void when one loses their parents.”
