Popular director and writer Sarthak Dasgupta, who last helmed the project The Music director, is touted to pen the script for an MX Player crime Saga, as reported by Tellychakkar. While the details of the project are not out yet, the crime saga titled the Dharavi Bank will draw in high expectations, considering the quality of the projects that he has been part of to date.
The update comes on the heels of the release date of the upcoming movie 200 – Halla Ho that is also written by Dasgupta. The film is slated to be released on ZEE5 on August 20. Opening up about the upcoming film to The Weekend Leader, Sarthak said that the film is drawn from a true story of 200 women who were subjected to injustice, torture, and oppression to such extent that they were pushed off-limits to react drastically and take matters in their own hands. The film intends to be a ‘movement towards social equality, underpinning a significant social message on the lives of Dalit women in India. ‘Dalit lives matter too!’, Sarthak reasoned, adding that regardless of being ‘socially marginalised, molested, tortured and mortified’, the Dalit woman refused to cow down and took to measures beyond the law to exact justice and revenge on the perpetrators in open court; the culprits being a gangster, robber, and a serial rapist. However, the film won’t glorify the act and will rather address the debate of how right or wrong were the women in opting for the extreme route and taking the law into their own hands. The trailer of the film dropped last week.
Produced by Yoodlee Films, 200 – Halla Ho features Amol Palekar, Barun Sobti, Sahil Khattar, Rinku Rajguru, Saloni Batra, Upendra Limaye and Indraneil Sengupta in important roles. Sairat fame Rinku Raj took to Instagram very recently to unveil a glimpse of her character Asha Surve, who is ‘the voice of the oppressed women’ and would stop at nothing less than delivering justice to them.
Sarthak Dasgupta's previous films, The Great Indian Butterfly was well received at many international film festivals, and his film The Music teacher was also very well received.
Meanwhile, more details on Dasgupta’s upcoming project, the Dharavi Bank, are awaited.
