When a high-budget film featuring a major star underperforms or flops, the result affects the entire industry. These are the projects that keep the showbiz afloat in challenging times like these and two back-to-back disasters like Radhe Shyam and Acharya have left its stars, producers and trade circles in a state of shock. While Radhe Shyam has reportedly suffered a loss to the tune of Rs 100 crore, the shocking drop for Acharya right after its first day, despite featuring two major stars like Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan, has got the industry extremely worried. There are remote chances of Acharya's recovery already and it's expected to be one of Telugu cinema's biggest duds - the losses may be close to Rs 80 crore.
Despite big stars scoring several successes like Akhanda, Pushpa, RRR in the recent past, it'll take a while for distributors and producers to recover from setbacks like Acharya, Radhe Shyam. Now, the focus immediately will shift to Mahesh Babu and Keerthy Suresh's action entertainer Sarkaru Vaari Paata on May 12, directed by Parasuram Petla, which appears to have all the ingredients right to tick at the box office. The promos of the film have worked big time and S Thaman's music has contributed to its buzz immensely. In addition, Mahesh Babu's magnetic charm and the aggressive marketing from Mythri Movie Makers has set the tone right for a big opening for the summer release.
Most of the technicians involved with Sarkaru Vaari Paata are incredibly confident about the film's result and the fact that it's a proper commercial entertainer during the holiday season should help its box-office prospects immensely, drawing loyal fans, family crowds and audiences of all age groups. Parasuram, its director, is always known to be a promising writer and has always offered something out-of-the-box with his plot, alongside the commercial elements. Keerthy Suresh, the director and the technicians have begun promiting the film actively and Mahesh Babu too is expected to join the campaign shortly.
Sarkaru Vaari Paata will not have any major competition for at least two weeks (until F3) and it'll certainly be a treat to watch Mahesh Babu in a full-on entertaining avatar, pairing up with Keerthy Suresh for the first time. There will be a lot of situational humour along with the action and the emotions and it's just what audiences want to watch. All eyes are on May 12 already and the film has enough hype going for it - will it ultimately deliver? The film's trailer will be launched today.
