The New Year season was all about debuts in Telugu cinema. While Roshan Kanakala, the son of anchor Suma and Rajeev Kanakala, forayed as a lead with Bubblegum, Akash Goparaju, the son of singer Sunitha, debuted with a rural drama Sarkaaru Naukari. The former was more commerce-friendly, while the latter dealt a sensitive topic in a story set in the 90s.
Sarkaaru Naukari was produced by K Raghavendra Rao under RK Teleshow and featured another newcomer Bhavana Vazhapandal. After wrapping up filming in the first half of 2023, the film hit screens in Telugu states on January 1 this year. While it gained decent reviews, it had a poor run at the box office and couldn’t put up a good show.
Days after the theatrical release, Sarkaaru Naukari is gearing up for its OTT premiere. Leading streaming platform Amazon Prime Video has acquired the post-theatrical OTT rights of the rural drama. The film is expected to arrive on the streamer by mid January, during/after Sankranthi. A poster confirming the news was released by the makers recently.
While a few speculated that the film would arrive digitally on ETV Win, one needs more time to know if the drama premieres on multiple platforms. Sarkaaru Noukari has story, dialogues, cinematography by Ganganamoni Shekar, who’s also the director. Raghavendra Rao roped him in for a film after being impressed by his work for the anthology film Panchatantra Kathalu (out on aha).
Tanikella Bharani, Madhu Latha, Mahaadev, Sai Srinivas, Sudhakar Reddy, Sammeta Gandhi, Mani Chandana played other important roles in the film. Sandilya Peesapati composed the songs while Suresh Bobbili worked on the background score. Raghavendra Varma was the editor with Ravi Kumar Gurram handling art direction responsibilities.
