Sargun Mehta is making her Bollywood debut in style, sharing the screen with Akshay Kumar in Cuttputlli. The actress recently opened up about the experience of filming the Ranjit M Tewari directorial with Kumar.

In conversation with news agency IANS, Mehta heaped praise on Kumar and spoke of how easy it was to work with the actor. “Once you're on set it doesn't feel like Oh my God it's Akshay Kumar, he just makes you feel like any other co-actor”, she said, adding that Kumar always made sure to make his co-stars as comfortable as possible.

The actress said that Kumar was ‘appreciative’ and knew exactly what to say to his co-stars to put them at ease. She spoke of how Kumar never made his co-actors feel intimidated, and gave them the freedom to improvise and do as many takes as they needed to. Mehta also recounted how they bonded over the course of filming, as Kumar made sure that the entire cast got together to have dinner whenever possible. This made sure that they had a good bond off screen as well, which helped when they had to do scenes together.

In addition to Mehta and Kumar, Cuttputlli also features Rakul Preet Singh and Chandrachur Singh in prominent roles. Ranjit M Tewari has directed the movie. The film was bankrolled by Vashu Bhagnani, Jackky Bhagnani and Deepshikha Deshmukh under the banner of Pooja Entertainment.

The film is the Hindi remake of the Tamil film Ratsasan(2018). It followed the story of a police officer who is tasked with investigating the case of a dreaded serial killer who abducts and murders young girls. The original film, which starred Vishnu Vishal, Amala Paul, and Saravanan, was also remade in Telugu as Rakshasudu (2019).

Cuttputlli is available for streaming on Disney+ Hotstar.
