A few of the actors and technicians who spoke at the teaser launch of Ponniyin Selvan briefed about the greatness of Chola dynasty which existed several centuries ago. They expressed excitement for having been part of a huge project like this under the direction of maverick filmmaker Mani Ratnam.

During his speech, Sarath Kumar was all praise for the filmmaker's vision and mentioned about the incredible discoveries which happened during the Chola period. He went on to describe Cholas as the "pioneers in warfare ship" and added that people will be astonished after watching the portrayals of characters which exist in Ponniyin Selvan novel. "The future generations will talk about Ponniyin Selvan and Chola dynasty, not about Thor or Captain America," he added.

AR Rahman recollected staying in two weeks in Bali to research on various temples and musical instruments which existed during Chola period. Praising the whole cast and crew of Ponniyin Selvan for pulling off such a huge project despite facing several odds, he opined that it is a true-blue Indian movie in every sense.

According to him, Mani Ratnam is the one person who inspires him to strive for excellence. He said, "Mani is my boss for the last 20 years. I learnt the art of working beyond mediocrity from him. He has a knack of extracting extraordinary talent from normal people. Many often ask me how I make some of the singers sing in the best way possible. That's something I learnt from Mani. Patience, humanity, encouragement and love are a few other things I learnt from him."

The dream of every actor, irrespective of their experience, is to work with Mani sir, and I'm glad I landed a crucial role in Ponniyin Selvan, said Trisha during her speech. She said, "I'm honoured and privileged to play Kundavai in this magnum opus. Mani sir is someone who made a pan-Indian hit with Roja three decades ago. He has always been the pioneer and I'm sure this film will be another feather in his cap."
