Sara’s trailer: Anna Ben's latest romcom is about being childfree by choice

In his previous movies Om Shanti Oshaana and Oru Muthassi Gadha, director Jude Anthany Joseph has tackled socially-relevant themes while packaging it entertainingly. His upcoming movie Sara’s won’t be any different, if its trailer is anything to go by.

The first trailer of the movie, which is set to release on Amazon Prime Video on July 5, released today and it’s filled with a lot of familiar faces in cameo roles. Considering its lead actress Anna Ben plays assistant director Sara in the movie, it’s no surprise to see a host of actors, directors and composers including Vineeth Sreenivasan and Shaan Rahman show up in the movie as themselves.

While the movie revolves around Sara struggling to make her first film, it also throws light on another topic – being childfree by choice. The trailer introduces the audience to Sara, who doesn’t want to have a child, while her dad (played by Anna’s father and scriptwriter Benny P Nayarambalam) wants to find her a match in the next six months. Sunny Wayne plays Jeevan, who apparently is also not keen on having kids after the trouble he goes through looking after his sister’s kids. 

With a host of actors including Mallika Sukumaran, Vijayakumar, Siddique, Jibu Jacob, Prashanth Nair IAS, Dhanya Varma, Siju Wilson and Aju Varghese, the movie promises to be a treat. The streaming service had been described as an unconventional romantic drama. Shaan has also composed the music for the movie, which was shot immediately after the lockdown restrictions were lifted in Kerala last year.
