Sara Ali Khan is among the busiest young actors in the movies right now. She is juggling between the promotions of her soon-to-be-released film, Gaslight, and the shoot of Murder Mubarak. Sara has been giving back-to-back interviews for the Disney+ Hotstar film, which marks many firsts for her. The actor has tapped into the thriller genre for the very first time in her four-and-a-half-year-long career. Moreover, she will be seen in a wheelchair in the film, which also stars Chitrangda Singh and Vikrant Massey in the lead roles.
During an exclusive interview with OTTplay, Sara shared that she is thankful she got this opportunity to be a part of Gaslight. The actor told us, "It was very exciting. I think that as an actor, one can only hope to do different things. I was very lucky to be given this opportunity."
While talking about not having any theatrical release for three years now, Sara spoke about how the success of Atrangi Re changed her perception. She stated, "Honestly, I've never personally thought of it like that. I think that for me, my job is to tell a story honestly and to portray my character's life as honestly as I can. I think, especially after the release of Atrangi Re, I realised that if you give an honest performance or tell an honest story, regardless of the platform, it will touch people's hearts and minds. That's more than I aspire to do. Like, that's all I aspire to do if I can touch your mind and touch your heart and leave a memorable performance with you. I don't think the platform through which it's received matters as much to me."
Gaslight is directed by Pavan Kirpalani. The film is set to premiere on Disney+ Hotstar this Friday, March 31, 2023.
