On Monday, reports were making the rounds that Sara Ali Khan would be reuniting with Kartik Aaryan in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3. However, as per the latest reports, the news is untrue, and there's no second outing of the exes on the big screen as of now.
Creators seek fresh pairing with Kartik Aaryan
Confirming the news, an insider told Hindustan Times, "This news about Sara [being cast] isn’t true." Sara, who co-starred with Kartik in Love Aaj Kal (2020), does not meet the creators' criteria for selecting a female performer who has not previously worked with the actor. Creators are keen on a new onscreen pair for this one.
The insider went on to say, "The first film had Vidya Balan play a woman struggling with a mental disorder and Akshay Kumar as a psychiatrist. The second one saw Kiara Advani with Aaryan, but they went on to do Satyaprem Ki Katha together. So, the makers don’t want to repeat anyone with him."
As confirmed, the casting opposite Kartik has not yet been finalised.

Meanwhile, Kartik and Sara were dating at one point during the filming of Love Aaj Kal. More than that, they dropped hints about their split on a chat show. However, they had exchanged greetings multiple times recently. Moreover, at Sara's Diwali celebration this year, Kartik marked his presence.
While discussing her split from Kartik on an episode of Karan Johar's Koffee With Karan, Sara admitted that it was always easy to cope with heartbreak. On the other hand, Kartik spoke about how his private life is always under the microscope in a recent interview with Film Companion; he brought up his mention on Koffee With Karan as an example. When asked why his personal life and not his professional accomplishments garnered more attention, he partially pointed the finger at the media. Kartik went on to suggest that perhaps his exes should have also refrained from discussing him.

Talking about Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, a source told Bollywood Hungama that the third instalment will be an opportunity for Bhushan Kumar and Kartik to further stake out their beloved franchise. They have been working tirelessly to finalise the script, and now they are all pumped up to shoot the film in February 2024.
