Sara Ali Khan will be completing five years as an actor in Bollywood this December, and she had two films released in her debut year: Kedarnath and Simmba. After that, she had to wait a year for her third film, Love Aaj Kal, in 2020. Since then, until 2023, Sara has only had movies directly released on OTT, which include Coolie No. 1, Atrangi Re, and Gaslight. However, the big screen wait was over with Zara Hatke Zara Bachke opposite Vicky Kaushal, which did quite well at the box office.

Now, during an interaction with Vogue India, Sara recalled how the pandemic brought a slight halt to her career, but now she is back on track. The actor stated, "I have no formal training in acting and rely on learning on the go. So I really missed those 2-3 years of imbibing knowledge when I had just gotten into the groove and the pandemic struck."

Sara made her acting debut at the same time as Janhvi Kapoor, Radhika Madan, and Ananya Panday entered the industry. On being asked about the competition among them, Sara quashed it by saying, "The industry is a huge place, and with OTT, there really is work for everybody. I actually believe that I have more in common with Janhvi and Ananya than I do with my school friends because they understand what it’s like to be young and ambitious as an actor and have the pandemic ruin your plans. We’re all confident in our own skin, which is so necessary."

Although Sara has much-talked-about films in her kitty, that hasn't stopped people from being critical about her work or even her personal life. Addressing the same, the actor revealed, "I definitely appreciate any kind of criticism when it comes to my work. I work for the audience, and if they don’t like my work, it behoves me to see what I can do better. But if they have an opinion on anything personal, whether it’s my religious beliefs, my sense of dressing, or my non-blow-dried hair at the airport, I don’t care."

Meanwhile, on the work front, Sara will next be seen in Homi Adajania's Murder Mubarak.
