Kantara, Rishab Shetty's next directorial venture, has piqued the interests of the audience with its rather intriguing premise. Rishab also plays the lead in the fantasy-adventure that is set in entirely in the coastal belt of Karnataka and centered around the sport of Kambala. With the man vs beast theme and the concept of a legend/folklore guiding the narrative, Kantara is a promising tale that will release in theatres on September 30.
And to further arouse the curiosities, the team has released Sapthami Gowda's look from the film to celebrate her birthday. Sapthami, who shot to fame with Duniya Suri's Popcorn Monkey Tiger, plays Leela in the film and will be seen in an intriguing cop avatar - the first look unveiled earlier today presents a rather demure side to her character. Kantara, as seen in the teaser, has the villagers at loggerheads with the local police who condemn or oppose the former's traditional beliefs. Kishore plays the main cop and it would interesting to see how Sapthami Gowda fits into this scheme of things. Rishab Shetty, apart from writing and directing the film, also stars as the main lead and is said to have undergone physical training to fit into his role.
Kantara has been shot by cinematographer Aravind S. Kashyap and Ajaneesh B. Loknath has scored the music.

Kantara is bankrolled by Vijay Kiragandur (producers of K.G.F: Chapter 2) and is an integral part of the vibrant Hombale Films repertoire. The production house, as revealed by Kiragandur himself in a recent interview, is currently developing as many as 14 films with two of them being bonafide pan-India projects. Their slew of projects is expected to comprise films of all scales and kinds - Raghavendra Stores, directed by the frequent collaborator Santhosh Ananddram, releases on August 5.
Kantara, on the other hand, sets up an interesting box office clash with the Dhruva Sarja starrer Martin. Dhruva Sarja reunites with his Addhuri director A.P. Arjun for the action entertainer that has Vaibhavi Shandilya playing the female lead.
