Saptarshi Maulik and Sohini Sengupta escape road accident in Kolkata

Actor Saptarshi Moulik and his wife, theatre activist Sohini Sengupta escaped an accident on Wednesday evening at Maa Flyover in Kolkata. According to the actor, it was the attentiveness of their chauffeur that they escaped a tragedy. 

In a long post, Saptarshi alleged that a driver, who was inebriated, overtook their car from the wrong side. “Had a near-death experience today on the MAA flyover. The driver of this vehicle (picture given) overtook our car from the wrong side and almost pushed it onto another vehicle. We could have fallen off the bridge or killed a biker. Luckily our driver saved us. When we caught the driver of the above-mentioned vehicle we found him drunk and abusive. Kolkata Police please take action, our protection depends on @kolkatapolice,” he wrote.  

Along with his post, Saptarshi also shared the license plate of the alleged car. Later, Saptarshi told the media that they are ok. He has complained to the police. He wanted the perpetrator to be booked. His post attracted a lot of comments. Some suggested that it was a ‘sheer blessing’ that they escaped the accident. 

Saptarshi – an eminent theatre personality – is a popular face on television. He became a household name after playing Dinka in Sreemoyee. Right now, he plays the leading hero Pokhraj in Ekka Dokka. Several turns and twists in the serial have been keeping the fans glued.
