Love stories appeal to all kinds of audiences, said director Hemanth M Rao prior to the release of his latest film with Rakshit Shetty – Sapta Sagaradaache Ello. Yet, unlike the actor’s earlier 777 Charlie, this one was not being released as a pan-India film from the start. The team would bring the Kannada original to theatres and let it travel on its own. Positive word-of-mouth publicity, reckoned Rakshit, would drive the film to new destinations. And true to his word, Sapta Sagaradaache is set to take flight in other parts of the country, after a good run at the box office in its Kannada original version.
Sapta Sagaradaache Ello’s first destination is the Andhra/Telangana belt, where People Media Factory will release the Telugu version on September 22. Ahead of this, the team released the teaser of the film, which, interestingly, was the same one they used for the Kannada film a year ago. But what has taken everyone by surprise is the quality of the dubbing. The teaser of Sapta Sagaralu Dhaati features only a female voice for Rukmini Vasanth’s character Priya, as she records a message on a cassette for Manu (Rakshit). This, said netizens was top-notch, with the dubbing making it feel almost like a Telugu original film.
Sapta Sagaralu Dhaati Side A, is the first of the two films this story entails. It follows the much-in-love Manu and Priya, who are then separated by a mistake he does. Side B, at least the Kannada version, is expected to release in theatres on October 20 and will pick up 10 years after the events of Side A. It remains to be seen if Rakshit and Hemanth will have simultaneous releases for all the language versions for Dasara. There are requests for the film to be dubbed and released in Tamil and Hindi too, which reports suggest is in process, but with only a month to go for the second film, which releases amid a lot of other festive films, the team will have to begin promotions for the same.
Netizens have also been requesting Rakshit to bring Side A to OTT shortly , so as to inspire interest in audiences who haven’t seen it in theatres yet, in time for Side B. Rakshit has not committed to an early OTT outing for Side A, or if he is looking at sending both Side A and B together to a streamer at a later point. It is rumoured that Sapta Sagaradaache Ello has been picked up by Amazon Prime Video.
