Sanya Malhotra shuts down marriage buzz; says she's too busy to be a 'Mrs.' amid dating rumors with sitarist Rishabh Sharma

Sanya Malhotra is in no hurry to get married

While speaking to HT City, the actress, who made her debut with Aamir Khan's highest-grossing film, Dangal, opened up about her marriage plans. On being asked if she has any plans of becoming a Mrs. in real life, the actress strongly reacted, "Nahi, I don’t have the time. Yahaan chhutti lene ka time nahi hai!" The question was raised due to her speculated relationship with sitarist Rishabh Sharma. A few days ago, pictures of her and Rishabh were shared on Reddit. They were seen posing with the same fan in 2 different pictures. The same background led to relationship rumors. However, Sanya hasn't reacted to the ongoing rumors. 

Sanya Malhotra talks about Mrs

During the same chat, Sanya revealed why she took up Mrs and what drew her to the film exploring gender equality and patriarchy. She said, "I haven’t faced the same challenges as my character Richa, but I have seen her in my mother, my sister, and in women around me. I’m hoping after watching it, people will realise that some things need to change."

She continued, "People keep forgetting that feminism includes both men and women. Patriarchy also puts a lot of pressure on men. When we were prepping for Mrs, my co-actor Nishant Dahiya was empathising with his character Diwakar (Richa’s husband in the film) — that irritated me. But I realised we are all products of our conditioning and patriarchy. I could understand aadmiyon pe kitna pressure hota hai; uss chakkar mein apne emotions bhi baahar nahin la sakte."

Mrs. is all set to premiere on ZEE5 on February 7, 2025.
