Sanya Malhotra is gearing up for the release of her upcoming film, Mrs. In the coming days, ZEE5 (OTTplay Premium) will begin streaming the film direct-to-OTT. Now, the makers have only dropped the teaser for the film and the trailer release date has been finally set. The makers will release the Mrs. trailer tomorrow, January 25, 2025, and announce the OTT premiere date.

Aarti Kadav has directed the drama film Mrs. which also features Kanwaljit Singh and Nishant Dahiya in pivotal roles.

Plot overview of Mrs.

In the film, the protagonist, a lady with a background in dance who also happens to be a dance teacher, faces societal expectations about her marital life while trying to forge her own path as a wife and an independent artist. Diwakar is a rich doctor who marries Richa, a dance teacher and professional dancer. However, once she's married, she'll have to conform to the traditional role of a wife.

The 2024 New York Indian Film Festival presented Malhotra with the 'Best Actress' trophy in recognition of her portrayal in the film. This film officially adapts The Great Indian Kitchen (2021), an original Malayalam drama.

International film festival screenings and recognition for Mrs.

The film has been screening at film festivals all around the world. It had its world premiere at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival in 2023. November 2023 saw the unveiling of the teaser. The 2024 New York Indian Film Festival nominated Kadav for Best Director and selected it as the closing film. In 2024, the film had its Asian premiere at the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) on November 22nd and the 14th Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM).

Earlier, in an interview with Mid Day, Kadav spoke about the research behind helming Mrs. The filmmaker stated that women who were remaking themselves, juggling goals and responsibilities, and negotiating patriarchal standards were the ones she chatted with. Going beyond a simple recounting allowed her to delve further into the cultural subtleties and unseen hardships of this region. Mrs. adds a new and intimate touch by shining a light on underappreciated lives.
