Now that the film has been watched by many, discussions about its OTT release have become a major talking point. As reported earlier by OTTplay, Zee5 acquired the digital rights for a whopping ₹30 crore.

Producer Dil Raju did not finalize the OTT deal before the film's release. Only after Sankranthiki Vasthunnam took a solid start at the box office did he lock the deal with Zee5. The latest update, however, is that Dil Raju is now trying hard to postpone the film’s digital release.
Initially, Sankranthiki Vasthunnam was set to premiere on OTT in the second week of February 2025. However, the situation has changed drastically, as the film is still earning massive numbers in theaters. On its 13th day (Sunday), the film grossed ₹10 crore—a record for this stage in its run. As a result, the makers are in talks with Zee5 to delay the OTT release.
Recently, OTT platforms have started structuring deals to pay producers extra for early digital releases, often within a month of theatrical release. For instance, Balakrishna’s Daaku Maharaaj will be available on Netflix within a month of its February 9, 2025, release.

Similarly, Zee5 had planned an early OTT release for Sankranthiki Vasthunnam. However, with the film continuing its stellar run in theaters, Dil Raju is pushing for a delayed digital premiere.
