Sankranthiki Vasthunnam: OTT deal yet to be locked for the Venkatesh starrer

Sankranthiki Vasthunnam is one of the major releases hitting screens on January 14, 2025, as a Sankranthi special. Alongside this film, Daaku Maharaaj and Game Changer will also premiere during the same week. Initially, Game Changer dominated the Sankranthi buzz, but the landscape shifted once the songs from Sankranthiki Vasthunnam were released.

Sankranthiki Vasthunnam OTT platform update

The film features three songs, all of which have become chartbusters. Bheems Ceciroleo composed the music, and his hit tunes have generated significant hype for the film. Dil Raju, who also produced Game Changer, is backing Sankranthiki Vasthunnam. While the pre-release business has been decent, reports indicate that the OTT deal remains unsettled.

A source close to the production revealed that the offer from a major OTT platform did not meet Dil Raju’s expectations. As a result, he has chosen to proceed with the theatrical release without finalizing an OTT deal. The source further mentioned that Dil Raju believes the film's post-release buzz will drive up demand, allowing him to negotiate a better rate for digital rights.

Despite featuring prominent actors, OTT platforms have been reluctant to pay hefty sums for family dramas, citing lower traction in that genre. However, there is little doubt that Sankranthiki Vasthunnam will open strongly at the box office. If the word-of-mouth is positive, the film is expected to perform exceptionally well, aligning with the festive season.

Anil Ravipudi pins high hopes on Sankrantiki Vasthunnam

Director Anil Ravipudi has maintained an impressive track record, with no flops in his career so far. The film’s buzz has been amplified by his strategic promotional efforts. Meenakshi Chaudhary and Aishwarya Rajesh star as the female leads in this comedy-drama, which follows a married man and his ex-girlfriend as they attempt to solve a kidnapping case amidst family tensions.
