Sanjay Dutt wishes wife Maanayata on their 15th wedding anniversary with an adorable video. Here's a look at their love story

Sanjay Dutt and his wife Maanayata celebrate their 15th wedding anniversary today. The Munnabhai actor got married to Maanyata in 2008, and he wished his better half in an adorable video, which is a montage of their lovely pictures together. It also includes a picture from their wedding day.

Sanjay captioned the video, "Maa, on this special day, I want to take a moment to celebrate the love and happiness that you bring into my life every day. Happy 15th anniversary to my wonderful wife, my rock, and my best friend. I love you now and always."

Calling Sanjay her "bestest half", Maanayata pointed out in her post that she and Sanjay have been together for a total of 21 years.

The couple, who are parents to 12-year-old twins Iqra and Shahraan, have a love story that can rival any filmi love story. 

It is common knowledge that Sanjay was a playboy, who is said to have dated over 300 women. He married actress Richa Sharma in 1987, and their daughter Trishala was born in 1988. Richa succumbed to a brain tumour in 1996. He later married model Rhea Pillai in 1998, and their divorce was finalised in 2008. 

When he met Maanyata, it was rumoured that Sanjay was dating a junior artiste named Nadia Durrani. He then met Maanayata, who took care of him and even cooked for him. Sanjay was floored by Maanayata's concern for him, and soon found himself falling in love with her. 

Sanjay and Maanayata soon began dating, and got married in Goa in 2008. But not everyone was happy with the union. It was rumoured that Sanjay's sister, Priya Dutt, did not like Maanyata and refused to accept her as family. But time seems to have mended their ties.

In 2010, Sanjay and Maanayata’s family was complete after their twins, Shahraan and Iqra, were born. 

All was happy and rosy till 2013, when the couple went through testing times after Sanjay was sentenced to prison by a TADA Court for illegal possession of weapons in a 1993 case. Maanayata stood by her husband like a rock. Sanjay reportedly wrote to Maanyata often from prison, and she did all that she could to secure his freedom. When he walked free in 2016, Sanjay called his family his pillar of strength.

In 2020, difficult times returned as Sanjay was diagnosed with stage 3 lung cancer. He revealed later that after the diagnosis, he cried for 2-3 hours, thinking about his wife and kids. The KGF: Chapter 2 actor fought the disease for his family and was declared cancer-free a few months later.
