Looks like filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga has stuck to his guns despite all the reservations concerning the runtime of his upcoming film 'Animal'.
The Kabir Singh and Arjun Reddy director took to social media a short while ago to make an official announcement that his new passion project will be a whopping 3 hours and 21 minutes long, and also that it has cleared the censor stage with a modest 'A' certificate.
Neither the Adult rating nor the runtime should come as a surprise considering that Sandeep Reddy Vanga's debut film 'Arjun Reddy' ran up to 182 minutes and was centred around a contentious, highly volatile character. The filmmaker has indicated in the past that 'Animal' takes things up a notch as far as 'intensity' is concerned and every bit of the promotional material released thus far suggests just that.
Ranbir Kapoor plays the main lead in Animal which, in essence, is about a stressful father-son relationship and how the son (Ranbir) gets embroiled in a life of crime and bloodshed owing to specific reasons. Anil Kapoor plays Ranbir's father in the film with Bobby Deol, Rashmika Mandanna, Tripti Dimri and others, too, part of the principal cast. Animal is set to arrive in cinemas on December 1st, 2023.
Prior to that, one looks forward to the trailer of the film which is set to drop on November 23. With the runtime finally confirmed by the man himself, it would be interesting to see how he treats the exploration of yet another turbulent character who is deep in the rabbit hole of the underworld and crime.
Ranbir Kapoor himself has accepted that his character in the film shares a lot of similarities with the personality traits of Arjun Reddy/Kabir Singh, but will he turn out to be as controversial as the latter two? The answer's out on 1st December.
