Sanam Teri Kasam: Not only Salman Khan, Harshvardhan Rane's film received love from Amitabh Bachchan, Hema Malini and more in 2016

Harshvardhan Rane and Mawra Hocane's 2016 film Sanam Teri Kasam was re-released in cinemas in February 2025. Although the film performed miserably at the box office during its initial release, it has been receiving immense love and doing exceptionally well in 2025. It has already earned double its original lifetime run. In a new interview, director Vinay Sapru, of the director-duo Vinay Sapru-Radhika Rao, expressed his gratitude to Salman Khan for his support during a critical phase in the film's initial release.

Vinay Sapru on Salman Khan's support for Sanam Teri Kasam in 2016

During a recent interview with DNA, Vinay Sapru opened up about Sanam Teri Kasam's box office failure during its initial release in 2016. He said that the team put their heart and soul into the film, and were quite confident that they had made a good film. But the studio didn’t care to promote it. Even though they had good songs, there was no buzz on the ground and people didn’t even know when the film was releasing.

Then came Salman Khan. The director revealed that when one studio backed out, Bhaijaan stepped in to help.

He shared, “I met Salman and told him about my film’s release. He asked, ‘When is it releasing?’ and surprisingly, I replied, ‘In the next four days.’ He was stunned and asked, ‘Your film has no buzz and you’re releasing it? Why didn’t you come to Bigg Boss for promotions?’ Then, I shared our struggles with him, and after listening, he immediately asked, ‘How can I help, Vinay ji?’ We requested him to tweet our trailer, and he did it without hesitation. That’s what friendship means to him. I am really grateful that he was there for us during such a crisis."

Sanam Teri Kasam 2 on the cards?

In an interview with India Forums, Sanam Teri Kasam directors Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru revealed that the script of Sanam Teri Kasam 2 is ready as it was written in two parts from the beginning. They are also sure about where Inder's (Harshvardhan Rane's character) story will go.

"That is why in the end he goes near that tree and Suru's voice echoes with her dialogues, which prepares you for part 2," they added.
