Sanam Teri Kasam Re-release Box Office Day 10: It's been 10 days since the re-release of one of India’s most viral films, Sanam Teri Kasam. Starring Harshvardhan Rane and Mawra Hocane, the movie originally hit theaters in 2016. However, due to the recent re-release trend, fans launched a social media campaign urging the producers to bring it back to the big screen. The overwhelming support helped Sanam Teri Kasam outperform not only two fresh releases but also Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar, which re-released in India on the same day. According to the latest box office figures, the film is just a step away from becoming the highest-grossing re-release in India.

Harshvardhan Rane Box Office Update

Recently, we reported that when factoring in Sanam Teri Kasam’s original ₹9 crore lifetime earnings from 2016 and its re-release collection, the film has now turned into a profitable venture. Made on a budget of ₹18 crore, it has finally found its audience, marking a remarkable turnaround. The film is now on track to surpass Tumbbad, which earned approximately ₹32 crore upon its re-release in 2024.

Tumbbad created a buzz upon its 2024 re-release, reviv ing interest in Sohum Shah’s highly underrated masterpiece. The film grossed ₹32 crore, setting a benchmark for re-releases. However, Sanam Teri Kasam is now close to overtaking it. On day 10, despite a noticeable drop in collections, it remained stable, earning ₹1.35 crore at the domestic box office, as per Free Press Journal. With a total collection of ₹30 crore, the film is likely to surpass Tumbbad’s record within the next couple of days.

Harshvardhan Rane on Almost Losing Sanam Teri Kasam and the Sequel

In an interview with Hindustan Times, Harshvardhan Rane revealed that he was not the first choice for the film. He said, "I arrived four months late for the audition, and the makers told me they had already cast someone else, who was sitting in the next room. They had completed costume fittings, and the poster shoot was scheduled in two days. I begged for an audition, and they initially said I was wasting their time. However, after over two to three hours, they came, hugged me, and said, ‘You have caused us a lot of trouble.’ I later crossed paths with the actor I had replaced—Ehan Bhat—who handled the situation maturely. Years later, we worked together in Dange."

Regarding Sanam Teri Kasam 2, which was announced last year, Rane said, "If I were from a film family, I might have an answer to that. But as an outsider, I have no control over creative decisions. If I had any influence, I wouldn’t have had to beg for the film’s re-release. If the shoot is delayed, I’ll fast for 11 days outside the producer’s office—what else can you do when you don’t have industry connections?"
