That Sanam Teri Kasam has re-released on the big screen after what feels like a fan movement is a fact. What is an even bigger fact is that fans are rejoicing, and the movie is touted to be tough competition even for fresh releases. The makers, fans, and theatre owners are all happy about this move. However, in a bizarre turn of events in Ratlam, while the city was excited about the movie’s re-release, there was also a major misunderstanding. Many in Ratlam believed that the release was not of the 2016 film but a sequel titled Sanam Teri Kasam 2. This miscommunication led to complete chaos. Below is everything you need to know.
As per reports, a few months ago, rumors about Sanam Teri Kasam 2 went viral, which got people in Ratlam excited. So, when the posters for the re-release of Sanam Teri Kasam were displayed at theatres, loyal fans stormed in, expecting it to be the much-awaited sequel. However, when the lights went off and the movie began, they realized it was the same 2016 film, which instantly clashed with their expectations.
A source said, "Nevertheless, they watched the entire film, but after the show, they complained to the owner about it. The poor owner was shocked by their grievance. He clarified that he never advertised it as a sequel release. The angry moviegoers understood his situation and left."
The source further added, "Soon, Ratlam residents learned the truth that the 9-year-old Sanam Teri Kasam was back in cinemas and not its second part. As a result, the evening and night show occupancy dropped significantly."

Despite competing with fresh releases like Badass Ravi Kumar and Loveyapa, the Sanam Teri Kasam re-release, directed by Vinay Sapru and Radhika Rao, is expected to outperform them. The film has garnered strong pre-release buzz, and as of the last update, 110.7K tickets had been sold in advance bookings.
Now, according to the latest estimates, Sanam Teri Kasam is set to earn around ₹4 crore or more on its re-release's opening day. Meanwhile, bookings remain strong, suggesting a great opening weekend. When it originally released in 2016, the film earned ₹8.03 crore in its lifetime against a ₹19 crore budget, making it a box office failure at the time. Its first-day collection stood at ₹1.12 crore. If the re-release meets the estimated numbers, it will be a massive success.
