Samantha Ruth Prabhu heaps praises on Alia Bhatt's performance in Jigra amid criticism: 'The brave choices you make...'

Alis Bhatt and Vedang Raina starrer Jigra released in theatres on October 11. Ever since the film was out in theatres, it has been facing criticism with accusations of rigging box office numbers and canceled shows. Amid all these, Samantha Ruth Prabhu has now taken to her social media and praised the film and Alia Bhatt's performance.

Taking to her Instagram story today, on October 14, Samantha wrote: "@aliaabhatt you tigress! A performance so feisty and throbbing with life that I couldn't take my eyes off you (sic)," She further talked about Alia's brave choices and wrote: "The brave choices you make... the standards you set for yourself (flexed bicep and fire emojis). keep inspiring (sic)"

Not just this, the South actress also praised the director of the film, Vsan Bala as well as Vedang Raina and wrote: "@vasanbala you've made a film so unique and you've really pushed the envelope with how to present a female lead! Thank you! Still tripping on the vibe of your film. @vedangraina what a talent! Going to be looking out for your work. The lashings scene...you had me gasping! So visceral (sic)"

For the uninitiated, actor and director Divya Khossla recently criticized Jigra by sharing a photo of an empty theatre and calling out makers for fake collection announcements. In her Instagram story, she wrote: “Went to Citi Mall PVR for Jigra show. Theatre was totally empty, all theaters going empty everywhere. #Aliabhatt me sach mein Bahut #Jigra hai, khud hi tickets karide aur fake collections announce kar diye. Wonder why paid media is silent. #weshdnotfooltheaudience #truthoverlies #HappyDussehra (sic).”
