Actor Samantha Ruth Prabhu has slammed the reports that alleged that she received huge financial help from a male superstar in Telugu cinema for her myositis treatment . She took a playful jibe at the unverified and sensational reports, noting that she earns enough to support herself.

“25 crores to treat myositis!? Someone got you a pretty bad deal. I am glad I am only spending the smallest fraction of that. And, I don’t think I was paid in marbles for all the work I’ve done in my career. So, I can easily take care of myself. Thank you," she said in a statement posted on her Instagram story.

She also requested those spreading the rumours to be considerate of those suffering from the illness and exercise empathy and restraint. "Myositis is a condition thousands suffer from. Let’s please be responsible with the information we put out regarding the treatment," she added.

Last year, Samantha revealed the details of the autoimmune disease she has been suffering from. Despite her health condition, she managed to complete all her film commitments while simultaneously taking treatment for myositis. “There are days when I feel like I can’t take one more step further. And there are days when I look back, I feel surprised that I have come so far. I’m here to fight. I’m not the only one, I know that. There are a lot of people who are fighting many battles. We win in the end," she had said earlier in an interview.

She noted that her condition has made doing her job very difficult as she has developed sensitivity to lights. “One day I am puffy, one day I am fat, one day I am sick. I have no control over how I look," she said earlier in another interview.

Samantha is now taking a long break to recover from her physical condition.

She will be next seen in Kushi, which stars Vijay Deverakonda in the lead. And it's due in cinemas on September 1.
