Vicky Kaushal is on a promotion tour for his upcoming film, Sam Bahadur. Based on the life of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, the film is directed by Meghna Gulzar and also features Fatima Sana Shaikh, Sanya Malhotra, Neeraj Kabi, and others. On Friday, Vicky visited Kolkata and spent a whole day in different activities. He went to Fort William and visited a college for promotion. Later, he attended a press conference.

At the press conference, Vicky said that he loves the stories of real-life heroes of India. This is not the first time the actor is seen portraying a character of a patriot. Earlier, he worked in Sardar Udham, Uri, and other films. Is it a conscious choice to play a patriot? While answering the question by OTTplay, Vicky said, “I honestly feel I do get drawn to scripts that depict the good stories of the real heroes of our motherland from our history. I feel that along with entertaining, it is very important to educate the youth of today’s generation about the heroes who have been there,” said the actor.

Vicky further added that he loves ‘living the life of such patriots. “Men or women, who have been there and done something for the country for our benefit. Those stories draw me as an audience, as well as an artiste. So there is some kind of magnetic energy that pulls me to those scripts as well. I do enjoy living those lives because I get to know more about those people. I get to learn more as a human being as well,” he said.

The Uri actor said that it is not a deliberate attempt from his side to play only such characters. “It is not a conscious decision that I will have to do only these kinds of roles. It's just that when such roles come my way I feel those are too amazing for me to let that go. It is not like I have done one Army film or one film on a freedom fighter. I don’t mind doing 10 more Army films if the scripts and stories are good and it is made with the right intention and integrity,” he said.

Produced by Ronnie Screwvala, the film will hit the theatre on December 1.
