Salman Khan starrer Kick 2 to be directed by AR Murugadoss, not Sajid Nadiadwala?

In 2014, esteemed producer Sajid Nadiadwala made his directorial debut with the Salman Khan-starrer Kick, which went on to achieve blockbuster status with collections surpassing Rs 200 crore in India. For several years, there has been speculation about a sequel to Kick. In 2023, Sajid Nadiadwala confirmed his return as director for Kick 2 with Salman Khan. However, recent reports indicate that the sequel may be directed by Tamil filmmaker AR Murugadoss, with Sajid Nadiadwala only overseeing the project.

According to a report published by Bollywood Hungama this evening, Salman Khan and Sajid Nadiadwala have reunited for Kick 2. While Nadiadwala directed the first movie, the sequel will be led by AR Murugadoss. Nadiadwala will supervise the project, confident that Kick 2 will surpass all other films produced under his banner in terms of box office performance.

The script for Kick 2 was crafted by AR Murugadoss and his team, sources said to the news outlet. When it was shared with Salman Khan, he was immediately captivated and eagerly signed on to star in the film. The script effortlessly builds upon the narrative universe of Kick, paving the way for Salman Khan's return as Devi Lal Singh, alias Devil.

If multiple reports are to be believed, the film is expected to go on the floors in May and is expected to be released by next year.

In 2014, the action-comedy film Kick debuted, marking Sajid Nadiadwala's first time directing under the Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment banner. Salman Khan, Jacqueline Fernandez, Randeep Hooda, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui headlined the film's cast. The soundtrack of the film featured as many as 18 tracks.

In 2023, Nadiadwala also stated that the script is complete and they are determining the ideal release date for the action movie.
